Empowerment Features in Community: A Comparative Analysis of Women of Two Different Ages
The study focuses upon common and distinct characteristics in the field of pro-active behavior within two different age stages – young adult and grown-up adult, as well as whether there is a transference of values from one generation to the other.
The main coordinates of the study are features of psychologically empowerment. The dimensions emphasized are the manner of assigning to causality, motivational structure of personality and influence of parental authority patterns within the social and cultural context of contemporary Romania.
The methods used within the study were: Motivational Structure of Personality, Spheres of Control and Parental Authority Questionnaire.
Two samples of 34 respective 30 subjects were selected, having as criteria age, level of education and gender.
Statistic analysis pointed out for each group personal and social needs profiles, parental authority pattern and the manner of exercising control on personal, interpersonal and socio-political level.
Correlation analysis of results for every sample and as well for all the subjects emphasized positive and negative straight influence among dimensions of control, prevalent personal and social needs and dominant parental authority patterns.
The comparison of cluster analysis obtained for each sample showed two similar profiles regarding the way the variables were grouped.
The conclusion that can be drawn regarding the study for both groups is that there is a consistent transfer of personal and social values between the two generations, although there are differences regarding the dominant needs and the manner of exercising control for each group.
