The “Virtual Classroom” as a Resource to Manage and Increase Active Participation in the “Practicum” of Social Education and Pedagogy Studies
In this paper we present the experience and reflections gathered during the course 2004-2005 at the department of education at Balearic Islands University (Spain) based on the use of a “virtual classroom” in the “practicum” of university degrees –Community Education and Pedagogy- as a tool to help improving the tasks and participation roles of the students and lecturers; and at the same time as a functional element that provides an optimal platform to adapt the main action lines of Bologna Process and consequently as a way to introduce the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in the general academic programme of both degrees. We analyze and describe trough the paper: the different typologies of the process “Teaching-Learning” taking into consideration the Bologna Process principles; the content of the virtual classrooms, its management and functionality, its pedagogic implications; and the problems and difficulties faced when developing the experience.
